First time feeling discouraged…

Completely Overdue for An Update…

I apologize for being MIA recently. As it happens I got the flu right as I was coming back from Florida and proceeded to be completely knocked out in the days that followed. Today is the first day that I am actually feeling more like myself (minus some coughing that is just refusing to completely go away.)

I feel absolutely awful that I have not been able to work out since before going away on vacation. On Sunday morning I couldn’t take it anymore, and even though I wasn’t feeling all that great, Mike wanted to go to the gym so I figured I’d go with him. I mean I’d be fine as long as I focused on weights and not cardio, right? WRONG. I’m not sure if it was the lack of exercise over the course of 2 weeks, the illness, or both, but I had no energy at all. Weights I was able to manage with no issue before now had me panting after a minute, and once I started panting, I found it harder to breathe, and once it became harder to breathe, I started coughing and just could not stop. I think I managed to last about 15 minutes before I just threw in the towel.

What I hate the most about this is that I consistently worked out for 5 weeks before all this happened and now because of the break I took, I am going to need to double the time I took off before I can manage to get my endurance back up to what it was again. So basically, another month of working my ass off, just to get back to where I was before. And while I have been eating better since coming back from vacation and I did measure myself and saw no change from before, I’m feeling bloated again, which is something I haven’t felt in almost 2 months.

I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t feeling a little discouraged right now. This flu really thew me for a loop and even though I am finally feeling better, I still feel that this lingering cough is still going to be an issue for me if I try to exert myself again. I am hoping that as the days go by it’ll lessen a bit more and I have my fingers crossed that I’ll be able to try the gym again by this weekend with some more success. Only thing I can do now is really try to focus on my diet in the meantime and make sure I’m not backtracking. We’ll see how easy it’ll be to accomplish that since Sunday is my Easter…

Learn Some More About Me!

In other news, AmbitiousNerdFitness (one of my nominees for the Liebster) requested that I answer his 11 questions as well, so here goes:

  1. What’s your favorite exercise/machine/activity?

I’d have to say that my favorite activity is rock climbing. I love the rush of making it to the top and then having to propel myself back down again.

  1. What’s your least favorite?

Assisted pull up machine…or burpees…specifically 8-count burpees…

  1. What’s your favorite “healthy” meal?

My favorite healthy meal….that’s tough. That would really depend on the day and what I am feeling. Sometimes a good seafood salad loaded with shrimp, crabmeat, scallops, beans and tomatoes just hits the spot. Other days a nice piece of steak with some roasted veggies on the side will do the trick.

  1. What’s your favorite cheat meal?

A big juicy cheeseburger and Belgian fries on the side. And a glass (or 3) of Sangria. And then topping that with some dessert (preferably of the chocolate variety)

  1. Marvel or DC?

Ugh….DC has Batman, but Marvel had Deadpool. I plead the 5th.

  1. If you had a superpower, what would you pick for fun and what would you pick for utility?

Hmmmm…for fun, I think I’d like to be able to read people’s minds (you know, like being able to zone in on who I want, not being bombarded with everyone’s thoughts all at once).

For utility, I’d like to be able to morph my looks at will. Definitely would come in handy when I need a good disguise.

  1. You get one night with a celebrity with zero restrictions. Who’s the lucky person?

Joe Manganiello. (Sorry Mike! 🙂)

  1. What’s your favorite thing to do when you have no plans and the day/night to yourself?

If I am all alone with no plans, not that it ever happens, but I’d probably load up on all my necessary snacks and binge watch a series I’ve been meaning to watch but never got the chance to.

  1. What was the last movie you saw that you loved?

The last movie I saw and really really loved, and have watched probably a hundred times since, and owned it before it was even available on dvd was Frozen. Yep, that’s right. I love Disney. Any princess movie that comes out is always right up my alley.

  1. What movie can you not wait to see?

Beauty and the Beast – live action movie, being released next March. Cannot wait!

  1. How much would could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

To be exact- 700 lbs (and yes I looked it up!)

  1. I understand your feelings when it comes to gaining back your fitness, but I always have to remind myself that fitness is a lifelong commitment. If it takes an extra month, it’s okay, you were going to work out anyway!
