I’m Back and So Not Ready…

Sorry for the delayed post everyone. My return back to New York did not go quite as I planned. Florida was wonderful and warm and our side trip to Disney was truly magical. As we were nearing the end of our vacation, I actually began to look forward to coming back and starting my workout regime anew now that I had seen that the weather in New York had jumped up into the 60-70’s.

A day before we were set to leave I developed a cough, not terrible but definitely irritating. It only got worse the next day (I felt so bad, I was the person on the plane no one wanted on cause I couldn’t stop coughing, despite all the cough drops I was popping). And by Tuesday I’m pretty sure it had all developed into the flu. My body ached everywhere, my coughing was non-stop, I had no voice whatsoever, I was so cold all day long even though I was wearing long pajamas, a robe, and 2 blankets, and I had a fever. And it was 70 degrees out. So much for getting out to enjoy the warm weather….

Thankfully it seems as though my fever has broken for now and I am just dealing with normal congestion symptoms. My body doesn’t ache as much and thank god the coughing has subsided a bit, I was pretty sure my ribs were going to end up puncturing my lungs.

My hopes are to be mostly cleared up by this weekend (fingers crossed.) I had wanted to start running this week but it’s probably safe to say that I’ll end up pushing it for next week when I’ll have all my energy back again and focus on something a little less exhausting this weekend, especially if I’m still having problems breathing.

P.S. – As a side note, I forgot to mention earlier that I did take my measurements after returning to see what damage I had caused while on vacation. And to be honest, I did not really watch what I ate – I had it all – chicken fingers, fries, burgers, pizza, pasta, bread…omg the bread. To be fair, DisneyWorld was not the best place for fine dining…

And yet my results were not what I expected.

  • Bust – 34.5 in. (1/2 inch lost – like really?? always from the bust area)
  • Waist – 29 in. (no change)
  • Hips – 42 in. (no change)
  • Thighs – 21 in. (no change)
  • Arms – 12.5 in. (no change)

It felt awesome coming back and seeing that I did not gain anything back (and even lost some!) so it really feels like I’m picking up right where I left of!

  1. I’m so glad to hear you had a wonderful and fun trip, but hate that it ended in you feeling awful. The flu can be ruthless, but I’m really glad it didn’t linger very long. Working in a Pharmacy, I see and am exposed to so many germs. But thanks to God and hand sanitizer, I’ve been blessed this year. Take care and feel better – and build your strength back before trying to work out. =) – April

  2. Thanks for the well wishes everyone! Turns out I had the flu but I am feeling better on antibiotics right now. Hoping to be active again at some point this weekend but I have been making some great healthy dishes in the mean time that I’ll be posting about soon!
